Dr. Jonathan Halpert serves as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee and has been involved with NERUCA since its inception. A founding and sustaining board member and officer, he has held leadership roles over 12 years, including President (2014–2015), Vice President (2013–2014), and Board Member (2013–2023). He focuses on advancing urgent care through policy and legislative engagement and guiding NERUCA’s evolution from an all-volunteer organization to a professionally run association.

Dr. Halpert specializes in emergency and urgent care medicine. He is the Chief Operating Officer and a practicing physician at Priority 1 Urgent Care, which he founded, drawing on years as an emergency/urgent care attending and medical director.

He earned his MD from Albany Medical College and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP).

Inspired to keep the urgent care model “alive and growing in the Northeast,” he often notes that “a rising tide floats all boats” and “never underestimate what a small group of determined people can get done.” Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, saltwater fly fishing, and playing softball.
