Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs committee is one of our most active.  The committee is tasked with monitoring legislative and regulatory activity in each of our member states.  We oversee lobbying activities including the planning and execution of “Days on the Hill” so the face of urgent care is known to our legislators. The committee also interacts with many other professional organizations such as our state medical societies and other professional organizations.

Our committee is charged with monitoring each of our states for regulatory and legislative issues that could affect urgent care. The northeast has been very active with legislation and regulation looking to license, tax and otherwise limit the practice of urgent care. NERUCA has had a significant number of positive outcomes for the urgent care community in the legislative arena. The GAC is also becoming proactive in reaching out to legislators to educate them on the practice of urgent care before there is an issue, as well as proposing legislation that is beneficial to urgent care.

In addition, proactively and responsively facilitate appropriate legislative, regulatory and reimbursement advocacy for urgent care. Establish a network of professionals in each state to monitor the activities of and exchange information with those involved in making decisions about public and private funding and regulatory issues for urgent care-related health care at state levels.
